Harambee for Hearts @ Shelby Park Community Center
Saturday May 17, 2014
Twelve" invested" residents from Shelby Park, Smoketown, and Heverin House gave their time on beautiful Saturday to learn how they can help create healthy behaviors in themselves, their friends, co-workers and persons they serve. Knowledge sharing, Yoga, Tai Chi, an awesome lunch salad chock full of avocado, multiple salsas topped with veggie chips, as well as a basil/goat-cheese/tomato on a toothpick, made for a fast-paced, laughter-filled, inspirational day! Over the next few weeks, these health champions will spread the word with brief interventions - i.e., encouraging brief, health messages that can help slow or prevent heart disease. We meet in June to share our experiences and plan future strategies to build a heart-health culture of health where they live, work and play.
